VISAS
Applications for visas must be submitted to the nearest / most convenient South African diplomatic or consular representative abroad. It is always safest to confirm visa requirements with the South African Embassy in your country.

Currency and Banks in SA
The currency unit in South Africa is the Rand (100 cents). Bank notes - R200, R100, R50, R20 & R10; coins nickel- R5, R2 & R1; coins copper - 50c, 20c, 10c, 5c, 2c & 1c.
South African banks can accommodate all international transactions, and most credit cards are accepted. Foreign currency may be exchanged at any Bureau de Change attached to the commercial banks. There are a number of banks at the Johannesburg International Airport. Branches of the major banks are available throughout the cities. Your hotel will be able to direct you to the nearest branch.
Weather
It is summer in South Africa in February. Daytime temperatures are in the upper twenties and even in the lower thirties (degrees Celsius). Rain can be expected on some days.

The Menlyn Park and Brooklyn Malls, which are situated within Pretoria, provide a diverse range of shops for a satisfying shopping expedition.
Electricity
220V/250HZ electric supply. Most hotels have 110V plugs as well.
